I've just made a small change to your games list. It used to be that once a game finished it would disappear straight away from the "active" list and go to the "finished" list. Sometimes though you haven't had a chance to review the game and possibly leave a friendly comment. So now instead of this, finished games will stay on the active list for two days after the game has finished, which should be ample time.
Only a small change, but hopefully the start of a few more. I'd planned to do a fair bit on chrss over the holidays, but got sidetracked by the 5K App.

Not connected...but, it would be good if you could invite ANY user, chosen from the list to play, i.e. NOT necessarily ones you've played before. I'd like to 'challenge' people my friends have played, or ask my friends to play others I've played etc. Is it possible, easily? Cheers,
Connected! Could finished games come up as a very different colour in the list so I stop trying to play a move on an old game!? Thanks,
Yeah, I've realised I need to handle finished games a bit differently, so it's clearer they are finished, as I'm also clicking on them to try and make a move. Will work on it.
As for the ability to 'challenge' people - I only allow invites for people you've played before as a matter of privacy. I play games with a few people on here who aren't interested in playing chess with other people, so don't want to have them getting "challenges" from people they don't know. If you want to play other people then making an open game is your best bet. In the future I might add a facility to mark your profile as public/private so you can be sent invites from anyone or else have some sort of "friending" facility to control that sort of thing too. Though with the development being very much part-time that may be a way off yet...
Great thanks. The idea of a profile indicating "I'm open to challenges" or not is good. Another thing (sorry, I'm really burdening you here, I know) but when I refresh a game page it takes me 1/2 way down. is it possible to always start at the top, or something? Or even better have a frame so the board is always at the top but the list of moves/comments can be scrolled independently?! If it's any consolation, by the way, your chess site is BY FAR the VERY best on the entire web. The end.
Lastly (perhaps) has a league table been discussed/considered and rejected? It would maybe make people more competitive/promote cheating? I would be at the bottom anyhow!
Not sure what you mean by "when I refresh a game page it takes me 1/2 way down"? That may be because you have followed a link to a comment and so the browser will fresh to show the comment? Also most browsers will attempt to scroll back to where you were previously.
Keen to avoid frames, as they always mess up scrolling and are generally a bit confusing. It would be handy to keep the board in sight all the time, but frames suck too much for this.
I've deliberately shied away from league tables (at least for the whole site), as it would imply a level of competition etc and then I have to manage a whole load of extra issues with people cheating/using bots etc. At the moment if you reckon someone is cheating you can just choose not to play against them again. Much like in real-life.
However I did knock up a quick stats page to show you how many games you've won/lost. Handy for tracking personal rivalries. Haven't linked to it from the user profile page, but yours would be here:
